Protecting organizations of all sizes against cyber threats is a critical challenge and underscores the need to promote and support cyber-security awareness month. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) co-lead National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) and once again this year have released valuable information that will help aid you in being cyber-smart. The NCSAM toolkit emphasizes personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive measures to help enhance cyber-security both at home and in the workplace.
This year’s theme is “Own It, Secure It, and Protect It”. Below are a few recommended tips to keep in mind to help own, secure and protect your digital presence:
“Own It”: Understand your digital profile! Constant connection to the internet, whether it be at home, school, work or on your phone, will increase the amount of information you share online. Se sure to check your privacy and security settings and adjust as needed.
“Secure It”: Secure your digital profile! Cyber criminals are always phishing for information and preying upon unsuspecting victims. Be sure to take the proper measures to protect yourself and your company against cyber threats.
“Protect It”: Keep your digital profile secure! To help protect you and your company from cyber-crime be sure to learn how to not only secure your digital profile but to also keep it secure.
Remember if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So think before you click!
